The snow has always been our family holiday, with South Perisher Lodge holding many of my fondest memories. I learned to alpine ski almost as soon as I could walk, but it was at age 10 that I discovered my true passion when I first tried cross-country skiing at Perisher.
I quickly fell in love with its physical demands and the opportunity to spend hours out in nature. Since then, my skiing journey has taken me to some amazing places around the world and has given me the opportunity to represent Australia at the Winter Youth Olympic Games, four Junior World Championships , FISU World University Games and the u23 World Championships for Cross Country Skiing, and most recently becoming the Australian Open Women’s Champion in Biathlon – with South Perisher Lodge always feeling like my home base and a real source of community and support.
Cameron Kirton and Family

The Kirtons were delighted to join this ambitious plan to create a co-operative together with the other founding members in the early ‘70s.
Over the years it has been a terrific gathering place for special family birthdays, skiing and going on alpine adventures. Our three daughters Nicola, Stephanie and Meredith, and their children, have all enjoyed hiking and snow-time fun at South P.

“As a child, pulling back a bunk bedroom curtain to see, with pure glee, the magically white world beyond. Chill thrill. 1970s lime padded nylon jumpsuit and the rush of tobogganing. Happy company with family and parents’ friends, cooperatively sharing spaces inside and wild. Returning for summer birthdays in later decades, exploring the mountains with the next generation.” Nicola
“For our extended family that lives in five Australian states and two countries abroad, the lodge is a beaut vantage point to congregate and enjoy the environment with fellowshipping time together, cook ups, hiking and other adventures.
Steph
Over the decades it’s morphed to have new generations of family members down there enjoying it too and creating lasting memories.
It’s such a blessing of prime real estate to enjoy, downtime and snow fun!”
For as long as I can remember, coming to South P has been a special treat; hanging out with friends for “apres ski” and making new ones in the common room. Sharing my childhood holiday experience with my now adult children and their friends has been an added bonus. Meredith
Richard Page
Richard says he has been very lucky to be coming to the lodge since childhood, along with his brother Robert. His father Ken was a Founding Member and his mother Marion took over the membership until it was transferred to Robert. Both brothers are now members.
Perisher has always been Richard’s happy place. From skiing in winter to bushwalking, mountain biking and exploring the beautiful alpine landscapes in summer, the lodge has been at the heart of so many unforgettable memories.
“It’s more than just a place to stay – it’s a community, a retreat, and a home in the mountains.“

Jennifer Sheridan bought her own share into South P in 2021 after a lifetime association with the lodge. (Her Mother Gwenda is a Founder. You can read more from Gwenda here.) Her sister Helen Sheridan is also a member.

I have lots of fond memories of staying in the lodge and cross-country skiing with my father. We would regularly ski the trails including to The Porcupines, Charlette Pass, Blue Cow and occasionally to the top of Mt Kosciuszko and back.
The evenings were filled with laughter, great food, card games (500 and Bridge) and red wine. SPCAC and the surrounding wilderness is very precious to me.
